I live close to the beach so I guess it is inevitable that there will be multiple posts involving beach photos. My favourite beach of the moment is Scheveningen, which I visited not too long ago on an afternoon (here). I returned to this same beach, but this time on a cloudy morning. At first I missed the low sunlight, but the cotton-wool-like clouds have a charm of their own, and so does the almost empty space.

I took this opportunity to photograph people from a little closer. Without the coverup of a crowd that was pretty scary, but good exercise I suppose. I still see a lot of backs instead of fronts, at best the occasional side of a person. But it is a step forward for me…

Enjoy!

  1. The beach is always a great place to be. If I lived closer to the beach, I’m sure I would be there every chance I could get. I really like the first picture of the woman walking while holding both of her shoes on each side. Your perspective and composition is really nice. The more you shoot people, the easier it gets.

  2. Hi Aukje,

Nice pictures. I think the promenade and the pier, also from the inside, also has a lot to offer. The hotel you depict, whose name currently escapes me, is also magnificent but difficult to find a good angle other than you did from the beach.

We are in den Haag next week and we’ll certainly be visiting Scheveningen and taking pictures.

    1. Thanks David! Thanks for the tip, I have not visited the pier yet, I must give that a go too. Enjoy your stay in Den Haag.
