Another post with photos from the Lake District, it’s just such a wonderful place. As you can expect any time of the year, but specifically in the fall, there was quite a bit of rain during our one-week stay. But the Lakes still look amazing when it’s wet, so I got out with the cameras on two of those days.

The first location I visited in the rain was Ashness bridge, which is located on the single-track road from the Borrowdale road (B5289) to Watendlath.

I shot some Ektar too, and it looks like Ektar just loves rain!

On a second day with rain I went to a spot just a bit further up the same road. This time I didn’t shoot film as it was just too difficult to switch things in the rain and wind. I kept the M240 tucked in my jacket and the M2 in the backpack under the rain cover. But it was a very special location, so now I regret not shooting film. I guess I have another reason to go back there some time.

I feel quite emotional about these. At first I thought it was because I felt normal that morning. That may sound weird, but nowadays I don’t feel normal very often. Because of my fitness level, as I am still struggling with chronic pain even after getting the neurostimulator (read here if you want), I usually feel like I am lagging behind. When I am out with my camera is when I feel most normal, as I tend to forget the pain. But this time I think it was even more. I did not only feel like I was catching up, but being on top of that hill, even if it was only a short climb from the car, facing rain and strong winds, I felt like I had gone the extra mile and was in an extra-ordinary position. Instead of lagging behind, I felt like I was in a place few people would or could go, and that feeling was pretty good. So hence the connection with the lyrics from Eurythmics:

Here comes the rain again
Falling on my head like a memory
Falling on my head like a new emotion

Anyway, here they are. Rainy, but glorious. With the mixed emotions of fall, where something is lost, but something new will come…
