A month ago I visited the Keukenhof (kitchen garden) in Lisse. The Keukenhof is a very large garden that is only open for the public from the end of March until mid May, so if you get inspired by this post, you’ll have to wait until next year. The main attraction are tulips, but there are some other type of flowers and nice trees as well. Bottom line: a lot of colors, a lot of flowers 🙂 .
The keukenhof can be very busy, specifically during the weekend, but if you get there early you can find lots of quiet spots. The first hour I was there I only ran into gardeners. I wanted to start early because of the soft morning light, but at the end of April that is hardly possible during opening hours (from 8 am). But I am happy with the first couple of photos that I made (above), as they are still pretty soft.
For the rest of the photos I had to manage with bright sunlight (ok, don’t feel sorry for me 😉 ). The good thing about the Keukenhof is that it is all very pretty and well maintained. This is also the drawback: it is kind of artificial. If you like rural nature, this is not for you. But if you’re looking for color, nothing can beat this!
Thanks for reading!
