I went to Paris, lucky me! And my traveling companions (I’ve always wanted to use those words, ever since I heard Paul Simon sing Graceland) were my two young nieces, who had never been there before. That means two and a half day visiting the main attractions, I’ve had so much fun! Of course I brought my Leica, and of course I have made plenty of photos of the two girls.
We took the Thalys from Rotterdam, with the sun already shining. A good omen!
Our first stop was the Notre-Dame, where we did a photo-shoot. The garden at the back is really lovely.
After visiting the Centre Pompidou, doing some shopping near Rue de Rivoli, and resting at the Tuileries, we had an appointment at the Eiffel tower (big tip: order your tickets online before you go, it really cuts back the waiting time). It’s hard not to be impressed by it:
We watched the sun set on Paris from the Eiffel tower. Really special! And after sunset the lights on the Eiffel tower are pretty spectacular too.
Next day, off again with the subway, to visit the Sacre Coeur and Place du Tertre. Always a good place to enjoy a French atmosphere!
For rest and refreshments we switched between gardens and posh cafe’s, and in Paris that means really expensive cola and apple juice, and really gorgeous macaroons! 🙂
On our second day we spend the (early) evening on a boat on the Seine, which is a good way to relax a bit, and still see some of Paris. In fact, I think I made my best photos of Paris from the boat. But more of that in my next post…
On our last morning we visited the Musee d’Orsay, my favourite museum of all times. And when in the museum, you have to take a shot of the Louvre through the glass clock in the facade.
We all had a really good time, but we all felt a bit like this at the end of the day 😉 :
Let’s finish on a happier note: when you travel with two young girls, you get to do a lot of braiding!
By the way, all photos were made with the vintage Summilux 50mm lens on my Leica M. For this post it just didn’t make sense to me to include the camera settings. It is all about the girls this time.
