As you might have read in my last post (here), I have been to Paris! And although the purpose of the trip was not photography, there were some occasions to capture (or at least try) the French atmosphere. My last post was mainly about portraying the girls in the city, this post is about portraying Paris.
A big thing during our trip was visiting the Eiffel Tower. And I know it’s the standard tourist attraction, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not beautiful. I love the details in the structure, the ornaments, the out-of-this-world dimensions. And I love how it has no other purpose than just standing there being admired 😉 .
While I had seen the Eiffel Tower before, I had never been on it. I loved the experience, and the photo opportunities, specifically being there at sunset. While I often use a low standpoint on purpose, this time I just had to sit down because I was tired. There was no bench around, so I sat on the ground, and I think it worked out pretty well…
One more from the second floor of the Eiffel Tower, because the light was so beautiful. I only wish they hadn’t put the big white tent on Trocadero…
The next photo is a classic, but I love it nonetheless. The wrought iron balconies with flowers, the red metro-sign, all very Paris!
Another classic: Gallery Lafayette. It has a wonderful glass dome:
Finally, a few photos I took from a boat on the Seine. It is difficult to photograph the entire Notre-Dame if you only have a 50mm lens with you, but from the Seine I had no problem at all. It is the back of the cathedral, but it’s just as beautiful as the front.
Again a slightly different perspective, this time from the Louvre. I like the combination with the bridge. It’s one other characteristic of Paris, all the bridges:
Some more bridges:
Again the sun was already getting lower, and the sun lit the streetlights. I really thought they were on. But I checked, they are not!
The photo of the bridge on top of this post is my favourite. In fact, this one is my favourite of the month, which ends already tomorrow. So from tomorrow, this photo will be my cover photo for this website.
Thanks for reading!
