Last week when I was listening to the weather forecast on the radio, while driving my car, I learned that the coming weekend was going to be the first dry weekend (no rain) since October. Mind you, we are talking about the last weekend of February, so that is 16 weekends in a row with rain. I knew it hadn’t been a good winter from a photogenic light perspective, but I didn’t realise it was this bad. So I had to jump to the occasion and find a nice spot to take some photos. The stress from finally having a day with sun, and what to choose! I decided to head for the Amerongse Bossen, which I had shot in the fall, but I ended up on the Amerongse Berg. Pretty close, but I decided to try a new location. I am not sure it was a good choice, the landscape was not really diverse, but there was sun, and there were trees. A good starting point if you ask me 🙂 .
It had been a cold night, so the first half an hour or so there was still ice and ripe on the ground. I found this spot of moss-covered with ripe-crystal, and I decided to try a close-up with the 90mm Tele-Elmarit. The resulting image (above) is a crop, 90mm doesn’t get you that close, but I am still pretty happy with the details.
Since there was a bit of mist this morning there were opportunities for lightrays or sun harps between the trees. They were a bit tricky to catch, the humidity was a bit on the low side, so they are not really sharp or present. But we have to make do with what we get, right?
Just when I thought I was getting nothing more than pine trees, I found some deciduous trees. Below the boundary between pine and deciduous:
There were some leafs to be found, either on the ground or (sparingly) on the trees, although we are almost through winter. And I found another interesting patch of moss:
And back to the pine trees:
By the way, did you see the cyclist in the last image? Yes, these are large trees!
