Last week winter seemed to finally kick in. A bit late if you ask me, it is March already! But hey, it’s here now, so I am going to enjoy it while it lasts. Actually, this is what I have been waiting for for months. There was a little bit of everything: snow, fog, sunshine. All the photos were taken close to home, most of them on my way to work. With a week like this I am loving my bike ride in the morning 🙂 .

So here are my winter images!

A bit of fog:

Let’s see if we get another week of winter, or if spring is on its way. Thanks for reading!

  1. Hi Aukje, I love that you post such large images for us to see, but whilst the landscape orientated ones fill my screen perfectly, the portrait ones are filling the full width of the screen, so you can’t ever see the whole image without scrolling up and down a few times. I wondered if you might consider optimising the size of the portrait images so they fit the screen too, and we can take in the whole image on a single screen?

    Keep shooting!

    1. Thanks for taking the time to have a look at my photos and comment. If you click on an image you get a full-screen view. I think I should start mentioning that in my posts, and maybe adjusting size too. Thanks for the tip!

      1. Hi Aukje, I follow your posts on 35mmc, and wondered why you wrote so much there but didn’t have your own blog. I was about to leave that as a comment on 35mmc, then I happened to click on your avatar and it linked to your blog here!

With the photos, the landscape orientated ones do fit the screen (or at least the width of the central column of your blog), it’s just the portrait ones also default to fit the width of the column, so the height become too big to fit on a single screen. It’s just good to be able to scroll down a post, through the images and see each one in full as you go, rather than have to stop to click on each one then click to go back to the post. I’m sure you can set the image size when you insert a picture, just make sure the height of the image is less than the height of the screen. Hope that makes sense!

        Best,

        Dan

        1. I have come to the conclusion that it makes sense for me to post the film photography stories on 35mmc, as I get such useful feedback there, and post my digital work here.

With the picture size: it does make sense. I changed them now, but I am not sure everyone has the same amount of pixels… But at least this will fit better for most screens.

        2. Now I just have to find a way to get them centred, somehow my theme doesn’t support that so I will have to dive into the details to figure that out.

          1. Oh yes, I thought by default they would be centred. I think on my WP blog once you’ve posted an image (in the edit post screen) if you then click on it you get a little row of icons pop up above, and there’s an icon there to centre the image?

You could also post your film photographs here – I’m an avid film user, and whilst I use digital (mostly using my Sony NEX with vintage lenses and adapters (M42, Minolta SR/MC/MD and Pentax K), my heart lies with film. It’s great to see someone else falling in love with film!

          2. By the way, I had a look at your website, I really like the colours in your photos. I love the yellow buttercups and the bee in the heather.

          3. There must be some kind of over-ride in my theme, because the icons you mentioned are set to centre. So it is a bit tricky I think, I will try to figure it out, or change theme…

And thanks for the support and encouragement!

          4. Thanks Aukje for the kind words. I’ve found a few films (and a few(ish!) cameras) that I really like and are fortunately still available.

Good luck with the theme, I’m sure it’s possible somehow, as surely most of us would want images central on the page!
