It started the night before with checking the weather report, as any nature photographer should do. The night would be cold, the day would be warmer and sunny. This got me all excited, as there was a good chance of fog. I was expecting nothing less than a perfect morning, with fog for the mystery and sun for a bit of color…
And the morning lived up to my expectations!
I went to the same spot in Midden-Delfland as the previous time, you might recognise the location in the photo above. And yes indeed, there was fog. Not too much, the sun could still penetrate, but enough to create a dreamy atmosphere. Happy photographer 🙂 !
After a cold night you often see light steam coming from rivers or lakes. It is difficult to make it very obvious in the pictures (at least for me), but it’s still visible, giving a bit of extra mystique.
At this point there was only fog close to the ground, so the bird sitting high and dry on the light pole in the photo below could fully enjoy the sun.
You can also tell by the frost ripe on the grass (above) and the bridge (below) that it had been a cold night. Somehow after such a night the morning colors seem extra fragile.
Speaking of frost ripe: I have said it before, it makes just about anything beautiful. It’s such an amazing ornament! I’ve also been playing with monochrome processing, but with a hint of color. For now, green is my favourite.
When I cycled back home (yes, again exploring on my bike 🙂 ) the fog was getting higher, blocking more and more of the sun. I like the sunny photos a bit better, but I couldn’t resist this photo with reflection of the sun, and the lower one with the spooky trees. The extra fog totally changes the look and feel of the images, right? For me, it was a sign to go home again. The sun disappeared, time for some tea and Lightroom…
