Photo of a mirror-like pool at sunrise with blue skies

Time for choosing a favourite photo of the month, or to choose the new header. Initially I thought this was the same, but this month there is a difference. Sometimes a photo doesn’t lend itself for the 2×1 format of the header.

I think I had a pretty good month, there are a couple of photos that I am proud of. I really like the mirror photo with the fog (above), but this one isn’t suitable for the header format. I also have a real soft spot for the photo below, a photo from the Peak District taken with my first analog camera (Minolta Hi-Matic 7S). I am afraid most people will find it boring, but I just like the depth, the shades of green and the soft quality.

But, I have decided to go for the quintessential fall picture (see post here). It works well as a header, it is my most successful photo on social media so far, and of course, I like it 🙂 . The only negative is that it was almost too easy. The circumstances were just optimal for this photo, and the forest (Amerongse Bos) is gorgeous. It just presented itself on a platter, so to speak, I didn’t need a tripod, I didn’t have to lay down, jump, or anything. I just arrived at the parking lot at 9 am, not even that early, walked five minutes to the edge of the forest, saw this image and clicked. But although it is sometimes difficult to accept, the beauty of a photo is not really related to the amount of effort that went into taking it.

We will see what next month brings, can I be so bold as to hope for a bit of snow?
