Recently I decided to take a small detour from my route to work to photograph the Moerdijk bridges. There are three: an old railway bridge, (the one with the train in the photo above), a new railway bridge (the one in front of the old bridge), and a normal traffic bridge (in the photo below).

There is a small road leading to a staircase where you can cross the dike, and there is a small spot from where to take photos (or just sit on a bench).

I couldn’t get closer to the railway bridges, so for these photos I was depending on my two lenses (35mm and 90mm) to create different scales and viewpoints.

When I arrived there were clouds, but they were retracting, and the sun came out soon. Above, the clouds are still there, and the bridge is overcast completely. But I like the cloud-section. Below you can see the sun coming out and shining some light on the traffic-bridge.

It is difficult to do justice to the amount of wind there was under the bridge. I walked underneath it and I could barely move forward because of it. The photos below might capture it best.

Below a wide-angle view of the two railway bridges. I see it almost every day on my way (and back) to work, and I always like the shape. Unfortunately my lens wasn’t wide enough to capture the entire bridge (you could also say that I couldn’t take enough steps backwards 😉 )

One more photo with all three bridges…
