The main goal of our holiday in Curaçao was to relax, drink cocktails, and collect photos of fish 🙂 . But we managed to do a bit of exploring too. I want to share some of the landscape photos I took. The photos above and below were taken at the former salt pans near Sint Willibrordus.

These salt pans are the home of flamingos. I have seen them before at the zoo, but it is pretty special to see them here, minding their own business, walking around, snacking, and not being bothered by our presence at all.

Unfortunately I don’t have a large zoom lens, so I cannot show you how beautiful this bird is. But luckily my partner in crime does, and he kindly gave me permission to use one of his photos. So here is the bird in all its glory:

I also did a morning walk around the holiday park where we were staying. It had rained, and the sky was just clearing up. I like how this colors the sky. You can see the typical landscape of Curaçao, there are no large trees and woods, but mainly low bushes and cactuses.

The two photos below are taken on a different day, when the sky was much clearer, but again just after sunrise. You can see even more clearly what the vegetation is like in Curaçao, it is actually kind of messy. But maybe also a bit of ‘Wild-West’?

Back to the rainy day, it does give some nice opportunities of catching some last raindrops… This is a typical Caribbean flower, however I read that they imported it, so it’s not a true original.  But who cares, I like it! 🙂

The last photo is a bit strange. I don’t think it technically makes the cut, but I like it nonetheless. The sun was coming through, and there was this one lilac flower in the chaos, catching the first rays of sun. I had to do a lot of post processing to bring the flower out against the bright sun, which leads to some noise in this section. It was taken with the 50 Euro Russian Jupiter 8 lens, but I don’t think I can blame the Russians, the circumstances were difficult, and my skills might be limited too 😉 . So it’s not perfect, it’s not pretty, but I wanted to share it because I just like it…
